The DDAA Training Committee supports the Development District Association of Appalachia members through the development and implementation of various training programs that yield positive outcomes for Local Development District Directors, Board Members, and Program Staff.


The 2011 Training Program was approved at the January 2011 meeting of the DDAA Board of Directors. Highlights of the 2011 Training Program include:

Audience:

Transportation planners, economic development professionals, local officials, state agency representatives and stakeholders from rural and small metropolitan areas across the nation

 

Purpose:

Audience will be exposed to new and noteworthy practices related to transportation, network with peers, and hear emerging issues in transportation planning.

Employment Law and Practices Training Seminar

Audience:

LDD Executive Directors, Program Managers, Directors, Fiscal Officers, Board Members

 

Purpose:

A three-day interactive, practical, and comprehensive look at your legal responsibilities, the options available in difficult circumstances, and strategies for minimizing the risk of liability.

 

Proposed Session Topics/Activities:

Examining the employment relationship as a whole, the program guides you though:

Recruitment and hiring

Employment contracts and due process

Affirmative action and reverse

PEER-TO-PEER TRAINING

LDD Executive Directors, Staff, Board Members

 

Purpose:

To provide all DDAA members with the opportunity to receive one-on-one peer support in times of professional crises and to help anticipate and address potential difficulties in your organization.

 

Proposed Session Topics/Activities:

The program has reimbursed LDDs travel costs for peer-to-peer training in programs/topics such as:

·        Finance

·        Program/Project Implementation

·        Project Planning

·        GIS

·        Co-ops

The DDAA considers requests for Peer-to-Peer training on a case-by-case basis.
